AS CORES PARA MENINAS E PARA MENINOS - E O ESTEREÓTIPO POR TRÁS DISSO

Desde sempre estamos acostumados a ver bebês e crianças do gênero feminino usando a cor rosa em predominância, e os meninos o azul (ou verde, ou amarelo, ou laranja… menos o rosa!). Uma pesquisa realizada nos Estados Unidos mostrou que não existe qualquer evidência que confirme a preferência das crianças de cada gênero por essas cores. Várias crianças de ambos os sexos com idades que variavam dos 7 meses de idade até os 5 anos foram testadas quanto à preferência das cores.

Os resultados apontaram que até os 2 anos, as meninas escolhiam objetos e brinquedos das cores mais variadas, não tinham preferência pela cor rosa. Os meninos até os dois anos e meio também seguiam a mesma tendência, optando inclusive por brinquedos na cor rosa.

El maíz peruano en la historia

    Aunque es más conocida como cuna de la papa, la sociedad inca también fue la civilización del maíz, cultivo conocido en el Perú desde, por lo menos, 1 200 años a.C. Los antiguos agricultores peruanos lograron sofisticación en la selección y creación de nuevas variedades adaptables a los diversos espacios geográficos y climáticos. Al respecto, el cronista Bernabé Cobo cuenta que en el antiguo Perú se hallaba maíz, llamado choclo, de todos los colores: blanco, amarillo morado, negro colorado y mezclado. Hoy en día, en ese país se cultivan más de 55 variedades de la popular mazorca, más que en ningún otro lugar del mundo. En los Comentarios Reales de los Incas, Garcilaso de la Vega nos ilustra sobre los hábitos alimenticios incaicos relatando que uno de los pilares de la alimentación era el maíz y que lo comían tostado o cocinado en agua. En ocasiones solemnes molían los granos para hacer un pan llamado humita. Al maíz tostado se le denominaba como aún se le llama hoy: cancha, antecesora de las palomitas.

Reflexiones sobre la xenofobia en Europa

    La xenofobia es una lacra que se resiste como el peor de los cánceres a lo largo de las últimas décadas, al punto que el escritor portugués José Saramago se llegó a preguntar: “¿Cómo ha sido posible encontrarnos con esta plaga de vuelta, después de haberla creído extinta para siempre, en qué mundo terrible estamos finalmente viviendo, cuando tanto habíamos creído haber progresado en la cultura, civilización, derechos humanos y otras prebendas...?” Qué hacer para mitigar ésta desesperada y abominable situación, es la clave que nos debe preocupar de forma urgente en la sociedad, ya que el sistema global económico y político parece algo mucho más complejo de cambiar a corto o medio plazo. La solución — en el sentir más extendido entre de la masa social pensante europea — pasa por la educación. La educación ha de orientarse hacia el fomento de la interdependencia y la cooperación entre los pueblos para favorecer la universalidad, el reconocimiento recíproco de las culturas y una síntesis sociocultural nueva. Dicho de otra manera, es preciso promover la idea de la diversidad cultural, la igual validez de todas las culturas, el interés por otras formas de ver el mundo como fuente de enriquecimiento personal y social y la presentación de la sociedad multicultural como la sociedad del futuro (Gabino y Escribano, 1990).
